Hopefully we can live here someday?

This is the house that we are in escrow with. We really could use some well wishes and prayers. Tabitha has been amazing. She is nearly single-handedly making it closer to possible for us to buy this house in Berkeley. She has spent many many anxious and grueling hours filling forms, finding documents talking/negotiating with our real-estate agent and lenders, taking seminars meanwhile home-schooling our kids. The sinking feeling of complete lack of control is overwhelming. This will be quite a blog worthy adventure. The house needs an incredible amount of work.

  3. Oh, please tell me there is some green grass in the back. I can't help but see you all in your lush home on the farm. I know, there is no going back. I miss, for you, your freedom there.

  4. Best of luck. Is there a yard in the back?

  5. Yes there is a large back yard. The yard is just a little smaller than our garden was in Missouri. We plan to have a huge urban garden, bees and a dog. We'll also reclaim the front yard from the concrete jungle. The offenses that were committed in the name of low maintenance rental are huge but easily sorted. In my minds eye i see it already beautiful and home.

The house needs a large amount of work and fixing up. It has been a rental unit for a few decades. The old girl is tired and worn. We are anxious to breathe new life back into her. She has a strong foundation and roof. All the rest is just work on our part.

We are only in escrow but already love it. This has been an incredible roller coaster. The peaks and valleys are are not getting any closer together yet.

  7. How exciting, congrats! I'm so glad things are working out for your family over there on the coast. :D I have to admit, I've missed vicariously living through you and Tabitha with the few blog entries or no blog at all.

  8. Annie and Molly, thanks we surely can use the well wishes.

Lanna, I plan to start blogging in earnest as we hopefully buy this house and attempt to live in it. We dream of cultivating an urban farm of sorts. Although, fixing the house up will be a saga in itself.

The reuse resources here in the bay area are profound. I have access to all kinds of construction sites and used materials. It will be great fun and tons of work.

  9. This is awesome news! I am sure you will make it the most sustainable, green and loving home ever... I will pray that your escrow and efforts go well. I know you will fill it with love and joy.
I am just catching up with the past year and was SO sorry to hear about your health/heart problems. Thank God! Miss you all and hope the best for you. I'm still up north but have been offline/off tv/off cars/ etc. Health not too good but I know God is there for me and am ready to do his will. Love you all and think about and pray for you all daily.

  12. can't wait to hear about it (like everyone else here!) and am hoping you all are having a great 4th of July. If you would, please email me your address as there is something I want to send to Kassi... a painting Tabitha did when she was a little girl and a book about a young girl who paints (if okay with you both). Love you all.

(had to repost because the "not a robot" showed up in the post!)
