i put a timed light in chicken coop set for 5am, off 7:30am in the morning. then on again at 4:45pm til 7pm. we are getting an average of two eggs per day and have over thirty five hens. chicken and dumplings might be on the menu. oops i guess dumplings are made with eggs.
the green house didn't make it through the deep freezes we have had of late. lettuce soup anyone?
the pipes froze last night. nothing broke but i had to melt the line to the hot water heater. i have one of those freezeless spigots and it froze clear back to the line that feeds the water heater. it has been so cold here, the coldest since we moved here.
the sun is shining and frost is falling from the the sky like snow. it is magical.
this photo dosen't do it justice.
we got part of our seed order yesterday. hope embodied in a package in the mail.

Seeds and a movie!
Oooh, what seeds did you order?
And are there any others you want/need to get your hands on? I seriously have enough I can share if anything cold-climate-wise intrigues you (especially since you were so kind to send seeds with your cute Christmas card!). I think I have close to a 14gal tote [or more] of seeds right now, and I keep saving more from the gardens over the years. :)
ed, torchwood children of earth, a real nail biter.
lannam, this order has caynne, paprika, vietnamese multie color, bajio hot, pepperoncini peppers. also we got a gaint tomatillo verde, jersey giant tomato, and some of kassi's flowers. my goal is to pay for these seed orders by selling plants in the spring. any flower seeds will be greatly appreciated by kassi. our veggie seeds are covered for this year.
heh, we're eating nothing but tangerines for the third day and we can't cook anything else because of the massive tangerine canning operation going on in the kitchen - they got frozen two days ago so we have just about one more day to utilize them.
Let me see what I can dig up - do you have marigold seeds already?
