yay! we will have staples, now, for our trip. we have to learn how to keep all of this safe. the peanuts, especially, as they are oily. but we really plow through the peanut butter here, so we will see how long these last.

do you have a grinder for the peanuts? if so, you can probably grind wheat too...wheat will keep longer than whole wheat flour...just freeze the wheat when you first get it for 48 hours then re-freeze a month later to kill off pests.you can also sprout wheat for variety...i've made wheat fritattas and all sorts of things from them. a great book for all kinds of storage and food usage is Making the Best of Basics: Family Preparedness Handbook.
i haven't had a problem with soy beans getting pests in them.
for food storage, check out:

and also the mormons have great info on food storage.
buying in bulk is the best way to go! and, you did buy a lot! i belong to a coop and purchase every 2 months...it always seems a lot when i order but skimpy when i get it!
