www.omelay.com/cob

Since we're public & in case you don't know our plan. Go to our web address omelay.com/cob. We won't start building until we are set up in "the old house". Tabitha will start tootsweet again. Our family needs to be running around in the woods, growing organic vegetables and living the frugal life. We will eventually build a cob - straw - bale house. It might seem crazy to many but once it's finished everyone will "understand".

could you help us choose a breed of chicken?

these are light Brahmas. i like that they are cold hardy and gentle. i also like the buff ones.

these are Dominiques, and i like them. but i think my father is going to keep this breed, and i would like something unique to us.

these are Barred Rocks, very reliable layers. i think, though, that they may be too common of a breed for me, i want something unusual.

the site these link to is very, very cool. we want cold hardy, large, gentle layers. one breed, all pullets.

we're public

so, everyone knows we're moving. surprisingly, no one really seems to be upset by it. that makes me really really happy.

i have a fantasy world in which i want to have a sugar and creamer set to sit on this tablecloth i got at a garage sale.

ideally, i want this creamer:

and a sugar dish that matches, though i have not found one that matches yet.

though i also love this set:

and this one would match the tablecloth the very best:

i am such a dork. sugar and creamer sets are total fluff, who needs em'? i do.

i also find myself lusting after flannel pajama sets, something that you do not need here but we will need there.

homemade tofu is love

i wrote a post all about it but blogger crapped out on me. what was that all about? i havent been able to post in my blog for days.

anyway, as the title of this entry suggests, making one's own tofu is amazing. it is easy, cheap, fresh, organic, and incredibly delicious. i am madly in love with the whole concept. well, that is taken care of- since we are moving to missouri rural, where we couldn't afford organic tofu even if they had it for sale.

nataly- <3, call me sometime.

it was going to happen someday!

it has begun. we realize we need far more money to move than we have. so, our frugal days must begin. (ok, it would have been nice if we had started this a while ago, but no use kicking ourselves over it!)

food is, by far, whare most of our money goes. we dont eat out really, we just eat a lot and have very high standards. (organically speaking). i refuse to give on the organics, but we could eat less expensive foods and waste less.

netflix has come to an end. sniffle.

we must avoid driving and parking tickets.

wow this is scary. i hope we can save some money. please!
