we built a milking shed

over the weekend we built a portable milking shed. lance, niña's owner, made the steel square tube frame. the following two days were a flurry of he and i designing and building the milking shed. saturday and sunday were framing and putting on the siding. i did the roof yesterday. lance bought ondura roofing. it was very easy to install. i installed the purlines and the roof in just a few hours.
i still have to build the stanchion and install all the amenities. the milking shed will have lights and switched electricity for the vacuum pump. i also plan to plumb a vacuum line so the pump can be isolated and the milking process can be quieter.

lance and darla took photos of the entire process. i'll try to get copies tomorrow to flush out this post. otherwise a photo of the end result will have to suffice.

this is niña

tabitha has fallen for her. she is a great cow and is becoming a wonderful addition to the pile.

hurray, new posts! Can't wait to see this fabulous shed - it sounds great... especially since the cold is just around the corner. I wonder what Nina and Nimue think of it?

My friend is a dog groomer and makes about $40,000 a year working about 25 to 30 hours a week and she hate where she is. she has clients and I have the location the city has approved everything and moving and installing begins this weekend I hope it goes well. It should I like animals and I like to stay home and work. Let me know how things go I love o give hugs from me I hope maybe next year we can come out for a visit. You know Dad is getting a knee replacement in December, I hope it goes well. Love you lots, Laura

I'm filled with envy, Karl. Dairy is our highest food budget item - something we don't produce for ourselves at all. The new shed looks great as do the cows. I will be very interested to follow your journey down the milk path.
