do dogs go to heaven?

my favorite dog i have ever known died last night. we'll miss him terribly.

tabitha said it perfectly. "henry has forever changed my idea of what a dog can be." before henry she fiercely didn't like dogs. in the end she loved him dearly.

what was not to love. he was always a perfect gentleman. would let baby rome grab his lip hair. resisting pain henry would hold firm just to keep him from falling. he guarded our family and animals and we trusted him.

i feel lucky to have known you for your short life. goodbye henry i'll miss you.

Karl - So sorry to hear about your family's loss. It is tough to lose a beloved pet, especially in this case when he straddled roles of companion and protector.

My condolences.

And if your question is true, perhaps Henry could look up my dog Ted and give him a shout out from me.

I say yes, it is true. Animals and four legged family members with such a kind loving spirit are all waiting at the rainbow bridge for their special people. He sounds like a wonderful and beloved sweetheart.

I'm so sorry to hear about Henry. He was a good soul, and as such, I'm sure he's gone where good souls go.

I certainly hope they do. My dog died over a year ago and he really was part of our family. I'm sorry.

I have no doubt where your dog has gone! As my father lay dying, he had an experience that confirmed this for me. I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet has always been for me devastating for they are my only loyal companions. How truly loyal they are too.

thank you everyone, i feel like i'm in the middle of some awful country and western song.

some drunk hillbilly crashed into my truck, i lost my job and my best dog died.

things better turn around soon. it's getting pretty hard to keep my chin up.

I'm so sorry. I love reading your blog, and as a Pyr owner, I loved seeing how wonderfully Henry was working out for you. And of course dogs go to Heaven, especially one who was so loving and good.

I'm not sure I've posted a comment to your blog before, but I've been a loyal long time reader. I wanted to say that I've loved hearing all the things you've had to say about Henry. I too am someone who really just doesn't like dogs. But when fantasizing about my someday escape from suburbia & into the country, I've thought that I'd maybe find a dog useful, but eh, I don't really like them. THEN I started reading your blog, hearing about how fiercely he protected your kids, & how great & awesome he was at guarding your livestock & property & how sweet he was & very photogenic ;), that I started having second thoughts. "Maybe if I had a dog like Henry I wouldn't mind having a useful country dog afterall!" And so I started reading about his breed & even checked out livestock guardian dog breed books from my library, entirely due to my reading your blog. Henry opened up a whole new world to me, in which I think I could actually like dogs! :)
I am very sincerely sorry that you lost your wonderful Henry dog.
